Synchronicity!

I found this article in my inbox AFTER publishing today’s LoveLetter.😍

Rather than high school students waiting in the dark for their bus, I’ve read more than once of educators suggesting they should report to school much later. (Due to their night owl habits) I haven’t decided if that would guarantee more sleep or more night owling. 😊

😂

I recall rumblings at our neighborhood bus stop that the elementary and high school hours should be flipped. (HS starts around 7:30 and elementary 8:30)

Nobody seems to want to jump on that.

A note from LoveLetterist:

Today's conversation is not intended to advocate being a morning person.

Instead... It's a recognition that I AM a morning person.

Morning is when I most readily attain a state of creative flow.

Last night at 8pm I tried to create a meme -- a visual with a quote.

I searched... and blinked at my cursor for many, many minutes.

There was 0 blood flow from the rock.

This morning... bing, bang ,boom!

I had a meme created in less than five minutes.

I am well aware we are "all kinds of kinds" on the pale blue dot.

I'm an advocate for you doing you.

And so I ask:

Do you have a favored time of day?

What do you prioritize at that time?

Morning (early) wins hands down!

What priorities? Starting the coffee. Then I can “multitask” while the brewing progresses. I’ve begun tuning out the screaming headlines, (they seem the same every morning) and put my mind on peaceful/empowering readings or music.

Thanks Gary!

Has tuning out the headlines affected you? If so, will you share?

I have invited an eclectic mix of voices into my inbox that I peruse first thing. There's Nick Cave from the Red Hand Files, Sue Heatherington the Wales Alpaca farmer, Nice News, Plough, 1440... for a while I was getting Arnold Schwarzenegger but found there was too much exercise talk for my taste. 😂

There is so much great stuff out there to choose from!

Thank you for inviting the muses into your daily round!

Oh! And let us remember Julie at Run to Write who has been such a great support with 3mm!

Avoiding the blaring headlines has been helpful. (An old friend used to observe, “There are two ways to live. Disturbed and undisturbed.”) I sense that reducing the major newscasts and avoiding inherent agitation leaves my early hours wanting harmonious activities. Indeed, I pursue them.

The Muses are always welcome, but let’s not forget my connection with them was through you!

Regarding Julie “Run to Write” Hughes, her appearing seemingly from out of thin air has been a welcome addition to my legion of thought provokers. Of course in a very positive way. Sometimes the blessings seek us.

Thank you Gail and Gary. Very kind of you both. :)

I'm a morning person and have been since milking cows at 4 am! :) (maybe that's why, getting up early was ingrained at a very young age) I'm so happy to be a morning person. I love going for a run before the sun comes up and the solitude helps me create. Thank you Gail for these beautiful questions and the quote made me laugh. :)

I'm kind of a late morning to early afternoon person, lol. Although in the past few years, I've enjoyed waking early as long as an alarm isn't the the culprit. One thing I'm not is a night owl. Whooo me? Nope.

Morning person currently, but I have been a night owl in the past. I used to be able to adapt to circumstances, but I now find my quota of brain energy runs out as the day goes on, alas.

Good for your past adaptable self! I have been early to bed since childhood. My dad says I used to put myself to bed from an early age.

What about Deb? Is she ready to wind down with you after dinner?

Deb worries more about dragging her sorry butt out of bed in the morning than staying up at night. 😁 For the most part we adjust to each other, to the point that we seldom think about it.

Ha! Deb can’t sleep 🛌 in! She needs to peruse catalogs with you at breakfast!

Examining today’s art I see another advantage to being an artist: you can have a cat without having a cat!

I would add that unpacked boxes have become a phase of mile markers in my life. My boxes. My not unpacking... 🤷🏽

My-My! 😔

Mariboli’s quote always brings a chuckle. A person on Twitter whom I follow has that saying woven into her bio. Twitter creatives come in all shapes and sizes. Some cuss more than others...

Lastly and certainly my favorite, is Cal’s succinct summation of today’s thought provocation. Kudos! Bring on the creative updrafts. The music has some catching up to do. I may just have to bang on my drum all day.🪘

Have a cat without having a cat!

I would have another cat if my housemates weren’t so allergic. 🤷‍♀️

Hmmm… unpacking boxes can be time consuming. And emotional work. Can you afford Marie Kondo to come in and take care of the boxes. 🤔

Other people cussing doesn’t bother me, and yet I try not to cuss (especially in print) much.

Now I have the song in my head!
