Blessed are our friends! Having such support isn’t a skill all possess. A friend from AA used to note, “Alcoholics are an odd lot. They treat loneliness by isolating.” Not the only “lot” but accurate for lots of active alcoholics IMHO.
The element about women wanting to be heard and not fixed could ruffle a feather in certain circumstances. Not so oddly, I've had that remark directed at me a time or two? As much of my career was being a "fixer" (not the Michael Cohen variety), my impulse is to analyze and fix. Poor impulse control I guess!
Good question! I think many men would also prefer “being heard,” but the actual behavior we might prefer is “being fussed over.” “Honey, can you take a picture of this nail sticking out of my head?” Or, “Would you bring me some Aleve and water. I’m feeling a little dizzy! Is blood dripping down my forehead?”
Does that suggest that men are more amenable to being fixed? Depends on the fix. Wife to hubby, “I think we need to go to Urgent Care or the ER!” Hubby to wife, “Let’s not over react! What will they do to me?”
Thoughts? Is the line between “being fussed over and being fixed” easy to spot? How much pushback might occur? I resist just going to an ER as a first reaction. I’ve broken a few bones and duct taped some wounds over the years. The big breaks? A cast of course. The duct taped wounds? Large, antibiotic, absorbent bandages. Changing dressings. 🤷🏽 Those events have afforded me a gradient of urgency. “I got this. I got it!” Hard for a sense of team work.
Sorry you have a sniffle battle on top of the things you want, and feel motivated, to do. My maternal grandfather, Solomon Curtis Seigworth, would call having your affliction, “All sneezled up.” He liked rearranging letters or entire words to make sure others were listening. My theory. 🤷🏽
You asked, “WHAT KINDLES FIRES IN YOUR HEART?” Wildlife is always inspiring. This morning on my first Izzie walk I saw a male Hooded Merganser at the pond behind our home. With his harem. 3 females. Does that make him a big deal? Or the females indecisive? Everything can be this...
Losing fur? What does it feel like? A jab in my left arm produced six vials of blood. I guess calling that “fur” might be a stretch. My take on that is it’s an effort to make sense of some recent leg muscle problems. “You got to give a little, Take a little, And let your poor heart break a little. That’s the story of, That’s the glory of love.” Jimmy Durante (long ago, ‘round about the wondrous days of yore)
Calliope must have had my musical disposition this morning as well! “When we’re out together dancing cheek to cheek.” A sponge and a rock?🤔🤷🏽
Love?? Well, yes, love of life. Love of being as mobile as possible (Izzie votes yes!). Love for being proactive in my own physical well being.

Based on the photo, I would have thought you'd go with "Darlin' Clementine" for the music selection. The classic version by HH, of course: https://youtu.be/CHmVnr2ez_U
I’ll guess you might have watched an episode or two of “Rocky and Bullwinkle,” also featuring Boris Badanov and Natasha. Some in that past era thought children should not watch that show.
The latter two, BB&N, were any interesting counterpoint for Cold War times. And Nikita Khrushchev very much in the foreground banging his shoes at the UN!

And if you don’t “welcome it” your life might be more like this... 😉

The cliche about things not changing if we refuse to make changes comes to mind! That whole definition of insanity thing...
Not judging because I have been stuck there many times in the past. 🤔 I'm grateful for the events, ideas, and people who've gotten me out of the mud!
Everything I share I share from the mud.
I am quickly reminded of the phrase, “No mud, no lotus.” 🪷🪷🪷

I’ll stop here... 🐇 🕳️
There’s a Tara Brach video, a Gratitude song, a... 😳😬😳

That was a great illustration of (not) being willing to learn from lost fur!

The clip Typist referenced as well… 👆🏼

Thanks for sharing the clip Bobby! I tried to share yesterday and couldn't find it. 🤷🏻♀️

What if the gender roles were flipped in the skit? 😱

All the best in ousting your sneezles!

R&B? BB&N? Part of my formative childhood! 😉

“an” not any.
