A note from Loveletterist:

We stood in the vestibule waiting

for the rest of our party.

In the space of five minutes,

ample seating disappeared under a sea of humanity.

Several among us

chose folding chairs in the vestibule

where I saw...

an elderly couple

with thinning hair and easy smiles.

The woman

with the voice of an angel

(and no fear in using it)

sang

while many around her

remained silent.

A mother of three

carried an infant in a car seat.

Her concern so great

for others who stood

pulled her extensions close

to make room.

Often we want to be

somewhere we are not

when we're exactly

where

we're

meant

to

be.

A needle in a haystack? I couldn’t see the golden thread, perhaps my eyes were open?! Or does Nia wear glasses? 🤔

Crowds notwithstanding, I hope the service was just as you had hoped! A sense of connection? Of community? Of higher power?

Thanks for the words by Martin Luther.

The gold thread is in the string tied around baby Jesus’ burlap blanket.

Service was grand. The father (young-ish in chronological age) wove in a metaphor of zombie apocalypse films! Quite creative indeed!

I was raised in the Lutheran faith and sure I received instruction on Martin Luther in catechism class. 🤷‍♀️ I do not recall much beyond “he broke away from the Catholic Church. Or was it the Church of England. 🤦🏻‍♀️
