Button: “ELEVATORS TERRIFY ME! So I’m taking steps to avoid them.” 😁

I can have classical music in the background when I'm writing, that's about it. Even orchestral music from a movie doesn't work — I think "Oh this is scene where—" and I lose my mental thread.

Maybe I could have music with words while drawing or painting, but while writing I suspect (like you) it would distract me.

I might try it just for the experience. 🤷‍♀️

I have not tried writing with music playing in the background. I do however write with a live jazz band playing at all hours of the day and night. Emily is on the trumpet, Ben is on the saxophone, Coco on the piano, Justin on the bass, and Todd on the piano. The passing cars, pets, and people play other instruments as needed. Oh, and I forgot The Wiggles! They are always jamming with the rest of the band.

I love the addition of your voice. It’s as if you are speaking directly to me. I love hearing the sounds of nature and I also have playlists that soothe, energize and inspire. All depends on what I need.

Thank you Ilene!

Sarah Ban Breathnach said something similar… different music for different moods/activities. Know thyself?!

I never thought about listening to music while I write. Because I write a lot of fiction, I usually need it quiet. Maybe today I will try to have music on in the background.

👍🏻If you find it distracting, you can always turn it off?

As one who almost always creates with music, maybe I should go the opposite direction as an experiment? 🤔 🔬 🧫
