“Of corrrrrr-sssss — we could do better if we tried again —” Thalia sensed something was off with the ballerina’s torso, and she didn’t like the charcoal pencil’s rough edge and unwelcome smudges. Does the watercolor background cause it to cling? “Creating our tiny dancer was tons of fun! And there are many more images we want to try — What have we been waiting for?!”
I love the ballerina. Her smile and posture makes me smile and feel as if she has just had a great workout. She’s tired from pushing herself in ways she never thought possible, kinda like what you do on a daily basis. She’s proud of herself and ready for the next challenge. Keep growing and exploring my friend.
“We weren’t waiting…” Calliope winked at Nia, “… everything up until now… has been preparation and research.” ~Typist & The Girls...
What if we ALL gave ourselves permission to embrace this idea as the foundation for everything we still intend to do? And, what if we turned those intentions into commitments, not to try to be perfect, but instead, to embrace #Curiosity #Wonder #Creativity #Experimentation #TrialAndError and do I dare say it? #Failure
How could there ever be failure if we embraced this quote as our philosophy for how to show up each day?
Today, I commit to more research, preparation, practice, and ACTION!
The magical thing about my Serenity Altars meditative art practice, is the ability to lay things down, pick them back up, turn them a different way, assemble, reassemble, disassemble, and reimagine each of my creations. I recently completed a trio of art pieces from the same material... It feels pretty spectacular!
The focus on the ballerina’s possible torso trouble brings to mind my own back after yard work yesterday. 😯
I recall fondly all your efforts to put marks on paper - sketches, charcoal enhancements, water color. And I recognize your progress just as evidenced by today’s submittal. I also see you’ve acquired the skill of healthy self criticism with a commitment to never saying, “I’ll never be able to draw a good ‘whatsit.’ “
Like a sea turtle’s first step after breaking its shell? That just bubbled up from the depths, but also serves to describe our own journeys forward as we strike out on a new path. Taking that allegory a bit further, the mature sea turtle returning to nest and lay the next generation’s eggs might represent what we bequeath to posterity?
Another “Big Book”, the Bible, speaks of hiding our talents under a bushel. Forgive my license, as those talents were of monetary value, but with just a slight nick I believe the usage fits my intent. And you’re certainly not one to hide yours! 👏🏼

How exciting!
