Not that long ago I took part in an experiment for creating “small joy” using a set of different prompts each day. Today “BIG MAGIC” is staring me in the face, but I’m not certain if there is a book, a practice, a blog, a video that bears that name. 🤔🤷🏽

Would you shed any light on BIG MAGIC that might help me? If it’s like a secret handshake for a different group (not 3mm) I understand. 😁

Hi Gary! I’m not sure why Billie used the phrase BIG MAGIC today. In part it reminds me of our retreat weekend where we experienced magical connection and a “real” magic performance given by our friend DJ.

Also, Liz Gilbert wrote a book by that title. I devoured the book! Here is a 20 minute video: https://youtu.be/uwjbvhRReZo

That all helps me grock her intended meaning. In psychotherapy one’s first thought or utterance is the person’s best, truest answer. (Not in any way implying Billie said that on an analyst’s couch. 😊)

What a panoply of creativity, as Bobby aptly observed. I thought “chalice” when I saw the goblet. Which is synonymous with chalice. Like Thalia I easily slip into using “English of Olde”. In part I’m sure that’s due to my English major mother who would just burst forth with lines from Chaucer’s “Canterbury Tales.” Occasional Shakespearean tidbits as well.

GO TAL!!

I continue to feel much joy as I observe your march toward greater detail, complexity, and composition in your artistic drawings. Does your progress ever amaze you? I hope it does!

You may remember that I bought “The Storyteller Oracle Drck” for Beth’s birthday recently. She was so delighted! Every so often, like reading after dinner, she’ll produce the cards and say (demand) “Pick a card.” She’ll next pick her’s and then read from the included suggested traits that accompany the deck of card. Then we share our own agreement (or disagreement) with the suggestions, with comments of our own on the figure as well as our partner’s general characteristics. FUN!

Me liketh the experiment! (Autocorrect was having none of that “liketh jabber. Nia wins!)

What amazes me -- really AMAZES me -- is that for 40+years of my life I believed I was not creative!

Thank you for your appreciation and steadfast encouragement!

I, too, shared that belief about creativity. Once on a job site, when I was in the early stage of my learning curve in construction, the elderly superintendent referred to my efforts as that of a mechanic! The image of a “grease monkey” popped into my head. A put down. When I later gathered the courage to ask what he meant by “mechanic” I learned it was a compliment of the highest order. Referring to, in my case, a carpenter that has mastered seemingly all phases of the trade. (I was well on my way, but...)

That didn’t imply creativity. So if asked if I considered myself creative, I usually answered “no” and suggested “technician” or “mechanic” as more appropriate labels. The road can seem so long at times.

If only…

We understood the long and winding road that lay ahead could be embraced as an adventure, rather than a slog!

So many wonderful sources try to express just that! It is only when we open ourselves to hear that everything… opens?

What is Synchronicity? What a GREAT question Bobby! 😉

Could “Synchronicity” be BIG MAGIC in disguise? 🥸

“In psychology, synchronicity is defined as the occurrence of meaningful coincidences that seem to have no cause; that is, the coincidences are acausal.”

You decide!

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/basics/synchronicity

Where is all this coming from Bobby?

Well, we’re glad you asked! 😂🤣😂

(“Stunning image for the love letter today Paintist!”)

~Bobby

Where was I? Oh yeah!

Epiphany!

“Failure is an illusion. Once we understand that everything is just an experiment, we can then internalize the belief that there is no such thing as failure.”

~Bobby Kountz, TheEarthHeARTist

(Inspired by Derek Sivers)

“There is no such thing as failure if everything is just an experiment.”

~Derek Sivers

For a deeper dive into synchronicity, we can talk Quantum Physics... Or not! 😂

Ok, Bobby says YOU can if you want to...

“He says he’ll be too busy experimenting!”

As I occasionally run away from the daily post’s topic 😬 I so enjoyed your tour de force just now. With any luck (and practice) I may soon begin generating more tightly woven flights of fancy. 🙃

T-shirt: “When I was young, I was poor. But now, after years of hard work, I am no longer young!” 😁

At first I thought the base of the goblet was part of the drawing, but that made no sense. I eventually figured out the watercolor refracting through the glass made the real seem drawn.
