Pubs notwithstanding, I enjoyed today’s look at more of Marijke’s work. Enjoyable!
One look at your drawing and the implications for your 2022 leapt from the page! Ummm, screen! I thought of a recurring dream I had as a child of sitting on our lawn, motionless, watching a plane come crashing down on me! Since it’s now 2023 I’m guessing both stories had a happy ending. Except for those dinosaurs.
The quote from Einstein prompted a memory of a similar quote I heard over and over growing up. “A wise man changes his mind; a fool never.” Of course a search ensued. A fellow from Australia, Desmond Ford, is credited as having made that statement. Born in 1923 (and my mother 1920), Ford was a scholar and active in The Seventh Day Adventist Church, until he questioned two fundamental beliefs leading to his “excommunication” shortly after. So now I’m wondering if he was the source for what I often heard or a Psalm of similar wording? 🤔
May this community’s collective Friday provide far greater clarity than my searches. 🙏🏽
What I learned about “A.D.” times, from a Protestant Christian perspective, was that this era is the “Age of Grace.” That is, forgiveness and entry to Heaven is by Grace (God’s) and not works or deeds. Deathbed transformations as one example. Ford’s embrace of “Grace” in a 1000 page treatise to his church led to his expulsion! The official belief was that as of 1844 God was busy figuring out who measured up to rules of conduct (works). That applied to everyone who had ever lived!? 🤷🏽
A good love letter reminder, Gail.
And thanks for the shout out. And don’t forget: the Pub is always open.
Ummmm... I need directions to the pub. 😂
It’s next to the Vinegar!
I’ll go with you. I’m always up for the pub ;-)
Sending along my address. Please pick me up?
George Carlin: “How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?” 😁
Some good things just take a little longer, is all.
Any kind of good thing. Or good year. 😊
(And because I know *somebody* will say it: yes, a Goodyear can take a little longer, especially when it’s a blimp. 😛)
Jack.. Others might think it, only you can get away with saying it! 😉
🙄

Questioned beliefs, eh? Sounds healthy to me!

I'm staking no claims of knowledge... nicking from Pope Francis... "... the world is a joyful mystery to be contemplated with gladness and praise."
