I was hoping to hear such a positive response from you all about the week end. And of course you know that mysterious words like “pannekoeken” provoke positive reactions from me! The fare at the diner sounds scrump-diddly-umptious! 😁

With few exceptions, you describe what makes us human and social at our core. Connection. The notion that this all arises from protecting “the group” from saber tooth tiger attacks sells our current human needs for contact, comfort, commiseration, and connection way short.

Ironically, as more and more people have taken up urban residence it seems the actual connectedness has withered. I wonder if the idea that committees should not exceed a certain size (5 to 7?) also applies here as well?

Your week end was very intentional. Focused on discussing, demonstrating, and developing connections, yes? Common goals, shared “language” (ideas and words for what is being discussed and sought), and willingness may be requisite regardless of group size?

Bees form fabulously large communities! I read this morning that not all bees return to the hive each day. They still opt for connection, sometimes sharing a flower as their bed, and holding each other’s feet! That’s likely impractical for humans...

You have me buzzing...

Yes... the weekend was intentional, with a growing and evolving awareness of where each individual contributor thrives.

Common goals, similar visions and vocabulary, and willingness to hear one another seems baked into our connection.

Who knew such was possible?

A delightful surprise/experience all around/

Good stuff all the way around. Admittedly, I got a little hung up Tal striking a bicep flex pose.

I'm not sure how to take this feedback. I choose to believe you were "hung up" in a good way. 🤣

Like was she doing the "gun show" pose or a side pose and what does she look like and how tall is she and is this a demonstration of feeling powerful and/or an actual demonstration of muscles and why is my brain trying to visualize this and what difference does it make and ...

"hung up" as in overthinking it.

Huh!

You’ve given it way more attention than I did. 🤷‍♀️

Did you bury the lede with #3? Or is that just me? 😁

#3 requires continuity of readership. I posted a pic and wrote about pannekoeken on Saturday.

The muses assume everyone reads every word they say -- and remember them. They speak accordingly. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤣

My Google search of “Pannekoeken” today blurred the lines between the name of the diner at 214 N. Broadway Avenue and the name of the dessert, sometimes referred to as a “Dutch pancake.”

Both sounded remarkably good!

Sad to say I don’t use Instagram. The link opened up to a forkful of a blueberry-ish dessert by Alexandracooks. After scrolling down I was prompted to join or hit the road! 😔 Was there a specific part, using the link, about pannekoeken?

“It’s not about what someone can do for you.

It’s who and what the two (or more) of you become in each other’s presence.”

~ Ronald Sharp

The extended weekend left me feeling a bit like Buzz Lightyear...

I don’t know where the edge of infinity lies, but I feel ready for it AND beyond...

It’s one thing to talk about synergy and something else to experience it.

Swimming isn’t an experience when we’re reading about it. To experience the water, it’s mandatory we get wet.

A phenomenal experience of creating space for people to embrace grief, gratitude, and grace!

#Grateful 🙏🏼🕊️🙏🏼

“making room for that… is as simple as doing it out loud… where others can see and hear.”

Can you say more about how you observed this or how you will approach this now?

Very curious ... especially if you’re suggesting I can now enter any room I want by yelling and flailing my arms around 😀

Hmmmm...

I was trying to suggest the opposite of yelling and flailing? 😂 Is that not how what I wrote reads? 😬

Thank you for your question and an opportunity to elaborate. 😊

Since I like to work in threes... Here are three things I observed:

1.) Sharing my cancer experience (story) publicly gave me an opportunity -- to speak 1to1 with a physician. I shared the value and personal peace of mind my nurse Nurse Navigator gifted me over the course of my treatment. She was a steady and easily reachable touch point with my entire care team. This particular physician has yet to work with a Nurse Navigator. Perhaps I planted a seed? And if he is given the opportunity to work with an NN, he will have a success story from a patient already in his pocket?

2.) As part of our day out and about conducting gratitude interviews in the Rochester community, Chris Palmore and Elaine Pardi interviewed Lucy Bernas. The light and joy pouring forth from a woman who has endured great challenge and hardship was a huge inspiration. She shows what is possible!

3.) After book discussions of the Little Book of Grief, Grace, and Gratitude in which Chris, Bobby Kountz, and I shared personal stories, several people in the audience(s) felt comfortable enough to share challenging experiences from their lives with the group.

Throughout the weekend, I observed engaged audiences who I suspect felt inspired to reflect on their own lives. Hopefully some/many feel inspired to grow from their own challenges, or at least now have new perspectives from which they can evaluate their next steps.

Are there new frontiers for you or new situations where maybe you are the observer now that you think you’re more willing to speak up in?

Maybe and... it depends. I feel the question is too broad for any kind of definitive or complete answer.

How about this angle instead...

What allowed you to get to the point where you not only identify, but participate or even lead these moments?

Do you view it as a building / progression or a discovery?

What is around your next corner?

Building/progression — like a baby learns to walk. I continue to learn to trust myself through experiments and experience.

Both success AND failure build confidence and self-esteem.

And… what I feel is an even bigger learning curve is the wisdom to stay silent and/or asking genuine curiosity questions — allowing others to experience their own learning.
