A weekend filled with body, mind, and soul delicacies lingers.
“Much learning.” Nia holds her observations up to the April sunshine. “About others, yes —”
Thalia’s enthusiasm fuels her tongue to leapfrog over her ears. “And about ourselves! We learned it’s harrrrrrr-d to write in a new and action packed environment. WE DID IT THOUGH — wrote our love letters!” In response to Tal’s bicep flex, Cal raises her eyebrows. “Oops! Sorry for interrupting.”
“My biggest observation…” Cal scratches her chin, “… is that people want to connect… beyond fluff and bluster. And, making room for that… is as simple as doing it out loud… where others can see and hear. Together… we learn and grow.”
Nia looks up from her notes.
“Invite, engage, excite.”
It’s not about what someone can do for you.
It’s who and what the two (or more) of you become in each other’s presence.

I was hoping to hear such a positive response from you all about the week end. And of course you know that mysterious words like “pannekoeken” provoke positive reactions from me! The fare at the diner sounds scrump-diddly-umptious! 😁
With few exceptions, you describe what makes us human and social at our core. Connection. The notion that this all arises from protecting “the group” from saber tooth tiger attacks sells our current human needs for contact, comfort, commiseration, and connection way short.
Ironically, as more and more people have taken up urban residence it seems the actual connectedness has withered. I wonder if the idea that committees should not exceed a certain size (5 to 7?) also applies here as well?
Your week end was very intentional. Focused on discussing, demonstrating, and developing connections, yes? Common goals, shared “language” (ideas and words for what is being discussed and sought), and willingness may be requisite regardless of group size?
Bees form fabulously large communities! I read this morning that not all bees return to the hive each day. They still opt for connection, sometimes sharing a flower as their bed, and holding each other’s feet! That’s likely impractical for humans...
You have me buzzing...
Good stuff all the way around. Admittedly, I got a little hung up Tal striking a bicep flex pose.
