Notes from Loveletterist: Thalia speaks our truth when she shares that we are overloaded with inspiration from yesterday's trip to the Wisconsin State Fair.

It has been five or more years since my last visit. In that time, little has changed about the fair, and much has changed inside me. How fun to observe that! I saw miracles everywhere.

😂 I LOVE that!

Yesterday I took away a really impactful lesson from L.S.

She shared that as she prepared for this tour, she had an evening where she was tired, sore from rehearsals, and had glue on her fingers from attaching sequins to costumes. She "relaxed" by exploring her social media feeds. She found herself in comparison mode -- looking at those who she aspires to join at the top -- she didn't name names, but I was thinking Taylor Swift.

Anyhow... she had a conversation with a friend who asked -- "Do you love what you do? Do the fans who come to see you have a great time?"

Her answers were Yes and Yes. She recognized she had slipped into the pit of 'not enough' and pulled herself right back out.

There had to be a couple thousand fans in the grandstand last night. One behind me screamed, "I love you Lindsey!" more than once.

I think through sharing her story, Linsey demonstrated the sweet spot of contradiction. She is both Quenched and Thirsty!

Also introduced to a new group: Walk Off the Earth

The group opened for Lindsey. She came out and performed in one of their songs and vice versa. Collaborative!

Their energy is off the charts!

This is a keeper post! (Well, they all are😊) I detected a flood of emotions, memories, and discoveries. Change the eyes, change the prize?

Did Nia have a favorite part? Were there 4H type livestock exhibits? Is 4H still a thing? In my mind the shrinkage in the number of small, family farms limits opportunities for youth today to see opportunities in all the aspects of agriculture.

The hybrid apple was fun to see! With such exhibits to see, no wonder Thalia is still smoldering from yesterday! Assuming kids of all ages can exhibit their wares (yummy pastries, collage creations), I would expect a powerful lobbying effort by the Muses for you to enter next year. So they can go back to examine the works of others! (Like our children going off to school...😔)

I felt myself back at the local fairs of my youth. County fairs mostly. Youngsters proud of their charges: goats, sheep, calves. The smell of things frying, the games to see if you could win a stuffed bear, the cotton candy. You didn’t let Tal have cotton candy, did you?! It’s easy to picture her with a generous application to face and chin, hands, maybe even Cal?

Thanks for bringing big fair bites home with you, Gail. They stirred lots of memories, if you hadn’t noticed... 😁

Nia dutifully documented lessons… and enjoyed cookies and cream milk with a frosted brownie!

Thalia felt reverence for all of the creators putting themselves out there.

Cal worked on observing connections between old, new and borrowed. Did you notice how creatively winning veggies were displayed? This was new! They used to just sit on paper plates.

We’ve already got a couple of state fair ribbons in our basket! Loverletterist’s xSeedingly Satisfying snack mix was a winner back in 2017! There’s a picture of the ribbon with… Win Graciously from Wandering Words: A Walk from A to Z. Synchronously, my reading of that story posted to Born Free Newsletter… today! 😁

Definitely running on all cylinders. Or are you an EV? 😉

The ways that winners were displayed was great! The first place individual tomatoes reminded me of heirloom tomatoes? My first glance at the two-block stack displaying other tomatoes offered a jolt! (Remember my “advanced” vision🙃) I thought I saw the heads of kittens in the cells of those blocks!😱 Brightening and enlarging with my phone put that to rest in short order...
