Window cracked! Imagine what Henny can smell!

The sketches are so alive. That’s Tal to a T. More lovely than I’ve ever seen her! The bird scavenging sunflower seeds is so vibrant. Are the swans year around citizens?

There’s a strong sense of renewal in this post. Bravo!

I suspect the swans are headed south before the lakes freeze? There were lingering loons as well. 😎 I love the sound of their call.

And seeing the kid in "his environment" was lots of fun.

And another search! My Peterson bird book. Wintering swans. Most likely they are Trumpeter Swans that winter along the eastern seaboard. Chesapeake Bay. The Tundra Swans summer way north, but many winter around the Great Lakes and further south in the interior areas.

As for loons? Yes. I accidentally learned their call while learning to whistle using cupped hands and blowing between my thumbs. An August trip to Canada presented me with the same call sound. Attributing that to “campers or Boy Scouts” I returned their whistles. Oops! Then the loons came to us! Me? Delighted. The older woman in our boat? Not so much. That was after Alfred Hitchcock had just released “The Birds.” And we were out on the lake at dusk.
