Freehand circles? But surely you still have some of your old grade school compasses around somewhere? 🤔

(I still have mine. From college. My navigation kit from the Naval Academy. No, I haven't done any navigation since 1983, but the kit has a *really* good compass, and some day, who knows...)

Oooh! Good question about a compass! I wonder if there is one in a drawer somewhere.

Nope.

Not a bad idea to pick one up. I bet school supplies are out already.

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs.

Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

~Howard Thurman

The quote is very timely because what makes me come alive is art in any form. Even more so now that I’m reading “Your Brain on Art.”

Art and aesthetic appreciation lights me up!

All forms of art and creativity. And music, some of it resonates deep within my soul.

I’m even excited now to write a real fairytale complete with made up characters and everything!

🎉 I appreciate your joy and excitement!

Last night I was lit up by attending a yoga class. I haven’t been to the studio in about 2 months. It felt great to be back!

Tonight my quads, trapezoids, and glutes are positively glowing — burning like crazy. 😂

Once we’re bombed back to the Stone Age, you and I could be the Geek Guys. I still have the kit from my Engineering Graphics courses when I started college. I think they came from Montgomery Ward, the “Not Sears” guys. Much later my first desktop computer, made by WANG and running MS-DOS with a dot matrix printer also came from Wards. Now no Wards, no Sears, no Wang. Time marches on, leaving us at 11:58:30 on the nuke clock. Is a New Stone Age a reset?

It appears we both have the Wheels on the Bus tune rolling around in our thoughts! "The wheels on the wheelchair go squeak, squawk, squeal..."LOL

Enjoy hitting the road.

I don’t imagine this community would report you for copyright infringement! “Good Life Wranglers,” which brains like mine associate with 4-wheel drive SUV’s, might connote times when I was more alive than other times. 🤔 A saying at that time was, “Four wheel drive allows you to get stuck further from the highway than two wheel drive.” I found that to be true...

The quote by Howard Thurman brought to mind Jimmie Buffet’s long ago album, Living And Dying In Three-Quarter Time. I don’t think his music skills posed a threat to Met Opera tenors. His music, voice included, did enliven millions of followers! As did Pavarotti’s.

I just checked… truck currently wears a different brand of tires.

Buffet plays every year at Alpine Valley 30ish minutes from my house. I’ve never been to one of his concerts, but know people who go every summer. I wonder if there are any Parrotheads who cross genres and also listen to Pavarotti?!

Puts me in mind of a podcast I listened to today — Shane Parish and Naval Ravikant. I thought it was interesting in a Pavarotti sort of way.

I would wager that attending a Buffet concert could expose one to some “puffin” and not of the avian variety...

A friend told a story about assumptions and music. Stopped at a light, a convertible with several African American young men pulled up beside him, blasting hip hop music. He gestured as if to say, “Turn that down.” When the did they heard my friend playing a Frank Sinatra song. The driver of the other car was delighted and asked my friend his favorite Frank songs. Since the light had turned green they pulled into a shopping center parking lot to hear more of Frank’s music. My friend was stunned to see how assumptions can prevent enjoyable interactions.

I’m not attuned to the folks who seem to adore/be transfixed by/or possibly worship musical groups. Followers of The Grateful Dead (led by Jerry Garcia) called themselves “Deadheads.” After Jerry died the remaining members also decided “to die.” Stopped touring, recording new music, holding concerts. In effect the Dead died. Then a tribute band formed with some of the original musicians plus new musicians. I read recently that as they planned to dis-band they, too, wanted to claim some the earlier Deadhead and Dying elements.

I can’t name another culture that has a similar “recessional” for their people to follow through dying. Somehow I feel a celebratory aspect in doing so...

Note: right now I plan to be here tomorrow... undead.

Me too!

When I was a child the prayer I said before going to sleep went something like... "If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take."
