“Mhmmmm… Doesn’t get much better than this!” Thalia snagged a salted pecan and hunk of fudge ribbon with her spoon. “Straight from the oncologist’s mouth… We can eat as much ice cream as we want.”
“Nothing new there?” Cal whispered to Nia. She didn't want to burst Thalia’s bubble of gratitude. “Since when does Thalia need permission for anything?”
“And did you see what happened in the comments section of yesterday’s love letter? Our readers are connecting with each other! Amazing grace — How sweet the sound!” Thalia hummed the gospel tune and waved her arms around as if she were conducting an orchestra.
“Collateral beauty is materializing like…” Cal stumbled. She was searching for a metaphor. “Like… A colander placed over a bulb! Points of light from one source…individually reaching out, and illuminating the darkness.”
Thalia savored the custard.
Urania looked up a link for Collateral Beauty’s trailer.
Calliope closed her eyes and listened to ticks from the wall clock.
A word from Typist:
Feeling near normal today… how wonderful is that!
I have set a new intention for my interactions with caregivers. They are required to ask me dozens of questions. I’ve decided that when they are finished, I will ask, “Now please tell me something about you?”
Since I started, I’ve received one movie recommendation and have learned much about my Nurse Navigator’s family. As the tech told me last week after inserting a dye tube into my vein, “It doesn’t have to hurt.”
Why, yes, I do crunches! (Oh, I thought you meant the sound that bacon makes…) 😁
[Bacon — next best thing to ice cream! Better, for those of us with impaired pancreases. 🥓 😋 Unless it's sugar-free maple-bacon ice cream?]
Enjoy your weekend off Gail. Great response to all those questions. What a lovely gift and message to your caregivers.
