Pssst! Muses? What if Typist got an idea for an experiment? She might be looking at how you interact with your readers without any undue influence from her having to set the tone everyday!
Very cool, huh? Let’s go!
Miss Calliope? You seemed unsure this rodent could even be a squirrel. Was it the upright two-legged stance? Or its glowering expression suggesting something far more worrisome? An imp of perdition?
Miss Urania? I liked your reasoned and calmly expressed analysis of painter’s attempt. Not a judgmental tone in the least. “Just the facts, ma’am,” said Sergeant Joe Friday.
Wait! What! You think I’m distracting other readers from the key elements with my obscure references to a ‘50s TV series? I stand corrected. Good point.
Miss Thalia, once again your joie de vivre comes shining through! But what’s the rush? Easter’s on down the road a bit. Oh… um… yeah. You duly note that this moment, now, is what we have. Why not help this rabbit trade a glower for a grin. We can start our day over at any time!
Muses without influence from Typist. Sounds like a challenge for Typist to pull herself out of the mix. Despite her lowly title, she’s very controlling.😂
Cal… “We copied the squirrel from a book. He’s standing in an open tree stump.”
Nia… “Thank you! Stoic and pragmatic? I’m your muse!”
Pull yourself out of the mix?! Not the best idea. But maybe once a week you could draw some quickly executed images of the muses (no dialogue balloons), insert an identifiable object, then just put expressions on the muses’ faces. Different expressions would help.
Not quite a Rorschach inkblot but still a projective technique. What one reader sees may differ markedly from the next. After a couple months you could find multiple personality disorders running amok with, hmm, Cal and Tal?
Only credible readers’ remarks should factor in going forward.

Oh! I love this idea... Thank you for suggesting it Gary. I can imagine a multitude of benefits. First... It gives Typist a little break. Second... Character development. Third... Drawing/painting practice. Fourth... Variety is the spice of life.
I chase squirrels 🐿 all the time… Well, I once regularly chased squirrels… Now, I tend more to follow rabbits 🐇 down 🕳’s. Sometimes, I even listen to my muses and attempt to draw ✍🏼 them… That’s a story for another day though… in the meantime, whadya think of my baby hare?

That’s the note I usually put in my writing as a placeholder (so I’m not chasing squirrels) to remind myself that I need to place an image…
LATER. Stay focused… ✍🏼🧘🏻♂️✍🏼
Oh wait, I don’t think we can share images only links and I’m not even sure how the muses and typist feel about links… I think there was a question once about them… 🤔

Back to the 4 letter word! 😳
4 letter word — HELP?
Links in comments… Yes!
Images… Substack has yet to add that as an option.
Stay focused… one of life’s great challenges!
The four letter word is WORK! 😳😂🤣
Haha — I wonder how many 4 letter words there are in the English language!
