Awww, poor Henny!

We dog-sat a big, brave vanilla Lab — who, at night during a thunderstorm, came to our bedroom with a beseeching look that said, "I am brave, I am very brave, I really am brave really, but right now just right now please just right now can I come up in bed with you?" We let her up, of course.

If you just described early morning conditions, I’d still be under my covers. If not in the basement! Suddenly the words from “You’ll Never Walk Alone” popped into my noggin: “At the end of the storm, is a golden sun, and the sweet silver song of the lark.” There, that ought to do it. Henny!? Henny?? No larks...

Golden sun or no, your upbeat offering certainly sets a tone for the day! The setting you’ve described brings to mind rainy walks with my Fido. “At the end of the walk is a soft bath towel, and sweet dog’s wet brown nose pressed to my chest.”

You’ll never walk alone. 😁

Hoping the steady rain melts the icy yard. 🤞

Henny sleeps now... She'll be ready to hit the road when the rain stops in the early afternoon.

So grateful to have a faithful walking companion!

Under such conditions of wholesale iciness, do you have safe level or gently sloped areas for Henny to address necessities while you address safety?

I do my best to keep Iz walked and drained, rain or not. A rain garment or just a golf umbrella (for me) and off we go. The “wild” in her seems to make the conditions all the more exciting! 🤷🏽

We live on a crazy hill. Go figure! Every outing an adventure!

When Mara was a puppy, I bought a teal colored, plastic-y rain suit. I still wear it sometimes. 😂 Not today... it is a cold 30-something steady, moderate rain. Hen's been out, but can wait for a walk. She is being very patient...

My offer of my “beloved” ice crampons from my winter backpacking days still stands. They adapt to any boot and have metal spikes that really maintain traction.

As a kid I owned a pair of hobnail boots. Not long after the end of WW II, they exemplified: “To the victor belongs the spoils.” Even army surplus! They, like the crampons, didn’t lend themselves to indoor wear. 🤔

Be safe! Be sure footed!
