Thalia stops on her way to the metal trash can that protects a bounty of birdseed from hungry mice and red squirrels. “Whoo-who-whoo —” she imitates the Great Horned that’s been making his presence known, “— bought these?”
Cal and Nia look at the bag of daffodil bulbs in Tal’s hands and shrug. “Not me.”
“What a joy it will beeeee —” Thalia claps, “— to see the sprouts of another’s effort next spring.”
If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.
~Frances Hodgson Burnett
What you stay focused on will grow.

A note from LoveLetterist:
There's an ongoing yard project that I'm watching from a distance.
I find joy in letting go, and observing others lead, in areas that I used to think of as "mine".
I see a win-win of new experiences all around.
This morning in Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach (I'm a bit behind? or right on time!... from September first's meditation) I read:
"It seems to me that January resolutions are about will; September resolutions are about authentic wants."
Watching our gardens grow is so... rewarding!
I'm not allowed to buy bulbs anymore. Something about we don't have enough room to plant the old ones when I thin out the overgrown patches...
I'm thinking about sneaking into parks or medians or other "unowned" land and planting excess bulbs on the sly. Maybe at night to avoid detection, or in the day with a day-glo vest (but I'd have to buy the vest) because anybody with a vest MUST be official, right? Same as someone with a clipboard/iPad in a warehouse...
