Practice “gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness, and kindness” — the first one is basically a gimme, gravity is gonna be there whether you practice it or not. Although little kids practice gravity, or so I’ve always interpreted the pushing of things off the high chair to see if they fall down (cereal — check; spoon — check; bowl — check; balloon — well crap, THAT didn’t work, now I need to start all over again...).
You know I’m prone to jump to conclusions, or even plow right into them, so no surprise that I saw a nasty looking saber-toothed sword to the left of Cal’s image! Then there are paint tins... 😔 such initial silly conclusions no longer surprise me. 😵💫 Just practicing my surprised look.
I’m always hopeful when I see Nia’s rigid form that it’s not a sign of rigor mortis or the effects of accidentally ingesting some of Tal’s ADHD medicine. Perhaps the idea of Yoga would help with the rigidity. Would she feel self conscious? That she could never do a Sun Salutation? Tell her I think she’d be a natural. 😊
The 6-word quote Cal found was gob smacking to me (and likely just about everyone else here for its minimalist statement of truth). So glad you shared the quote.
Jocko Willink, Navy Seal and 20 years of service to his country (imagine the training to champion very demanding situations) is also an English Major. “The pen is mightier than the sword.” I’m not kidding about either aspect that define key parts of his life.
So, LoveLetterist, you ensure there’s never a dull moment. And I say so with all due respect for your creative spirit.
Rather than the admonition “Do something!” that can result in frenzy, “Do some things.” can feel like an invitation to play or create or both. Pretty sure you are well versed in all that. So it’s quite fortunate that you have a live-in “governor” (device that regulates a machine’s operating speed) that sets a healthy tone for all! Cal, of course.
A note from LoveLetterist:
I'm aware of my tendency to want to gallop into completing projects with allowing them sufficient room to breathe and take shape.
Yes... I'd like there to be muse picture book.
Who is it for? Dunno.
What age range? Not sure.
What's it gonna be about? Hmmm....
So how about if I spend some time flying in the fog while working on my drawing and painting skills?
There's certainly room to get better.
'Tis a season to remember that showing up slow... can be a/the present.

Didn’t Confucius come before Isaac Newton on the timeline? 🤔😂

You’ll have to wait to see what you see when they are painted.🤭
Lighten up on Nia? She’s the one who gets us in truck and to the studio with our mat and block. 💪🏻
A comment on the six word story post added another mind exploder! “Glow sticks break before they glow”!!!
Thanks for giving me some Jocko insights I did not have. I’m a fan.?Have you heard his song “Good”?

We are sometimes drawing/painting at night now. Words in the morning. Feels just right for the current season.
There was a second six word story in the Instagram post you mentioned. That’s the one that caught my attention...
#SixWordStory #SixWordMemoir
“Oh wow. You’re the teacher now!” 😲
What a great acknowledgement by the teacher of the young students effort! 🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙌🏼
I love that you and the girls are exploring...
Now I’m thinking about a six word memoir fitting for the lot of you... Hmmm? 🤔
Stay tuned...
