I really appreciate the quote from Ruth Gendler’s book about Resignation. My sense is if my self talk focuses on “not good enough” themes, resignation results. And once that happens, I take its hand unwittingly. As if to be comforted! Thanks, Gail.

Oh! That self-talk! It can really get a hold of us and keep us small, can’t it?

I had a conversation with somebody yesterday who is reading Meandering Muses. She asked how I was aware of the wide range of quotes and references. I paused and replied, “I read a lot? And when something resonates or causes me to think, I write it down.”

“You are thinking all of the time,” she pressed. “That makes me uncomfortable.”

Now there was a head-scratcher for me. My thinking makes somebody else uncomfortable? The only reply I could think of at the time was: “It’s the only way I know how to be.”

It’s been the source of much curiosity and thinking since.

Which brings to mind Socrates. “The unquestioned life is not worth living.” I’d wager that may not have been helpful for the reader?

Good Morning Gail... glad you are enjoying your Cuppa Joe! Small things that make our day! What do you mean no scones? I am with Thalia on that one!

I am full of awe in the daily messages you send each day. The gentle reminders of just how one little thing can be do wonderful. As Bobby would say “Finding the wonder”.

About resignation and leaving it behind. I love how the author just holds hands with it.

Wishing you a peaceful Saturday.

Thank you Sharon!

I have a deck of storyteller cards I received from one of our 3mm community. TY friend! I pulled WARRIOR this morning and was presented with the question: What mission is calling for your purpose and determination right now? I hope that I am living the question. 💜

Scones would be yummy! And I have all of that rhubarb.🙂

Funny you should say rhubarb. Today I will be cutting mine! I keep those big leaves to put down in areas of my garden that are ready for planting but that there’s nothing there yet! At the end of the season you can put them down with either a layer of mulch/leaves on top or just by themselves as long as the wind doesn’t carry them off! Great for weed protection and water retention!

Thanks for the gardening tip! Tell me… I’ve heard the leaves are toxic. Not to other plants?

You noted the sprouting of mouth sores with perfect detachment from drama! Would rhubarb scones be compatible? 🤷🏽

They are in the oven and I shall eat one come what may! The remainder will be sent with the angler to Michigan.

No whiners allowed. Shiners? Depends on what the kid plans to catch. Bass? Might need small shiners and no whiners.

Thanks for the cuppa Joe link! Josephus Daniels is one of the more infamous Secretaries of the Navy. Besides banning alcohol on ships, he also instituted a "no work on Sunday" policy (meaning more work on Saturday, effectively) and put policies into place that relegated Black sailors to mess duties with fewer chances at advancement.

Egads! I’ve never even been accused of food poisoning someone, much less killing someone. 😂 Although I did give Mara a grape on the morning she passed and it took a while to let that go.

Infamous is rarely good!

Resignation vs acceptance of circumstances--word choices that can dramatically change one's attitude. Or is it the other way around? Thanks for pointing this out, Gail! As for the reader who is uncomfortable with you thinking all the time, my guess is it's not a judgement on you but a comparison to herself, where she self-judges that she comes up short--that she "should" be thinking more deeply. Just my two-cents worth!

It shows self-awareness — and trust — that she was able to share her honest feelings with me?

I look forward to taking the conversation further if/when an opportunity presents.
