I really appreciate the quote from Ruth Gendler’s book about Resignation. My sense is if my self talk focuses on “not good enough” themes, resignation results. And once that happens, I take its hand unwittingly. As if to be comforted! Thanks, Gail.

Good Morning Gail... glad you are enjoying your Cuppa Joe! Small things that make our day! What do you mean no scones? I am with Thalia on that one!

I am full of awe in the daily messages you send each day. The gentle reminders of just how one little thing can be do wonderful. As Bobby would say “Finding the wonder”.

About resignation and leaving it behind. I love how the author just holds hands with it.

Wishing you a peaceful Saturday.

Thanks for the cuppa Joe link! Josephus Daniels is one of the more infamous Secretaries of the Navy. Besides banning alcohol on ships, he also instituted a "no work on Sunday" policy (meaning more work on Saturday, effectively) and put policies into place that relegated Black sailors to mess duties with fewer chances at advancement.

Resignation vs acceptance of circumstances--word choices that can dramatically change one's attitude. Or is it the other way around? Thanks for pointing this out, Gail! As for the reader who is uncomfortable with you thinking all the time, my guess is it's not a judgement on you but a comparison to herself, where she self-judges that she comes up short--that she "should" be thinking more deeply. Just my two-cents worth!
