As The Velveteen Rabbit fled, it tossed these words over its shoulder. "You become. It takes a long time. Yikes!! Here comes Henny the Four Leg!"

Actually I didn't hear the fleeing rabbit say any such thing. Nonetheless I think today's rabbit drawing is great! Fabulous! The flower between its ears and attentive eyes stand out to me. Did I say, "Terrific."

At first I smiled at the words of The Velveteen Rabbit. Then came the words about what results as we become real! While most of my hair has not been loved off (one has to be lovable to begin with I suppose), I have had cataract surgery for both eyes, joints protest at most anything, and shabby has become my fashion statement. Those developments have required acceptance and improvement in my sense of humor. By now most of my rough edges have been tumbled smooth by Hericlitus' River. As for "being carefully kept" it's been about 60 years since any young women may have said "He's a keeper!" Jokingly or otherwise. And there may still be some folks who don't understand. As for today, it's all as fine as a rainbow trout!

In so many ways Henrietta is my teacher! (Even though I might not have hired her if I knew what I was getting myself into. 😱)
