I am impelled, not to squeak like a Grateful and apologetic mouse, but to roar like a lion out of pride in my profession. ~ John Steinbeck, Nobel prize acceptance speech
Sun & shadow... we have both right now, sorta, with the smoke from Canada wildfires casting borderless shadows over everything; meanwhile, less than a quarter inch of rain in the last 31 days means the metaphorical shadow of local wildfires looms darkly. 🫤
Dangerous times! I follow some Twitteradians (Twitter/Canadians) that have been ordered to leave their homes for personal safety reasons. Not expecting to return to their homes! It might seem extreme for a gratitude practice to say: “I’m glad my home hasn’t burnt down!” 🤷🏽
What a perfectly imperfect lesson for this day! Any day!
I suppose Steinbeck knew “Grapes of Loving Kindness” would not enjoy a large following. 🤔
Why not? Not enough drama and darkness?
I have another quote from him that I love:
I am impelled, not to squeak like a Grateful and apologetic mouse, but to roar like a lion out of pride in my profession. ~ John Steinbeck, Nobel prize acceptance speech
Wonderful! (I said that once to Izzie, and her reaction resembled the RCA Victor dog, head cocked, ear to the “trumpet” of the Victrola!)
That aside notwithstanding, Steinbeck’s Nobel acceptance speech remarks were wonderful.
I’d submit that Loveletterist sometimes roars with her brushes!

Be safe in your present circumstances.
