Twenty minutes ago…
Calliope’s guts grumbled.
Studio’s tabletop stood strewn with tax papers, receipts, yesterday’s murky watercolor jar, Q-tips, felt-tip annotated index cards, sticky notes, hats cut from cardstock… and more!
Thalia scrolled emails and chased dings and pings from her smart(?) phone.
As Nia tried to tidy… Tal pulled children’s books from shelves.
Nia pulled the tone she reserves for Henrietta when she refuses to come, “Stop!”
Calliope took a deep inhale and released it in a whooosssshhhhh! Henrietta blinked sad, mocha eyes while standing at studio’s threshold. “Saved by the dog! It’s time for a quick soccer game!”
Now…
Studio’s table is clear, with light reflecting on its varnished top. Thalia and Nia are… smiling. Today’s love letter is almost complete… and all is right with the world.
There’s real magic in turning something off for a few minutes.
I agree with your quote, "There's real magic in turning something off for a few minutes". This makes me think of Cafe' Anne's recent post about cell phones and people who don't use them. I use mine but I'm not glued to it like so many other people are. I believe that it's healthier to step away from the electronics for a while and enjoy nature or the people and pets in your life. So many people don't take the time to enjoy what's away from the screen anymore.

Sounds like Nia...?
