A note from LoveLetterist:

I've been thinking about this business of good/bad, right/wrong, positive/negative, light/shadow, yin... yang.

Where I sit today is... whatever falls into our laps is not as important as what we do with it.

Thanks, Gail. I remember a time when I could awfulize about anything, turning occurrences into screaming negatives. These days? Not so much. A work in progress.

You and the girls are in good company...

โ€œIt's not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.โ€ ~Epictetus

โ€œLife is simple. Everything happens for you, not to you. Everything happens at exactly the right moment, neither too soon nor too late. You donโ€™t have to like itโ€ฆ itโ€™s just easier if you do.โ€

Thank you for this Gail. A daily practice to quiet the internal noise...why I run outdoors. I love your paintings.

I like the answer to โ€œWhy do you paint?โ€ A few years ago Jackson Browne offered this exhortation in the lyric: โ€œDonโ€™t let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy!โ€ So he wrote songs and played them.

Cal seems to be answering the โ€œwhy do you paintโ€ question by noting the quietness. Hard to argue with that!

Danielle LaPorte seems to have penned your job description! Longfellowโ€™s โ€œLearn to labor and to waitโ€ conjures an image of a surfer waiting for good waves. ๐Ÿ˜‰

From memoryโ€ฆ

โ€œWe might lose or we might win, but weโ€™ll never be here again..โ€ (?)!!!

The surferโ€ฆ has built the necessary skills?

I have been reading notes from books that Iโ€™ e read over the years. Yesterday I came across a quote from Abe Lincolnโ€ฆ I will prepare and get ready and someday my chance will come. (Paraphrasing)

Weโ€™ll never be here again. This moment/living in the present.

The surfer. Immersed in Nature; taking signals from what is happening; responding to current situations. (I saw you as the surfer in this instance. Paddle boards can come to feel like training wheels on a childโ€™s first bike!) Please know Iโ€™m pulling your leg. Well, maybe just your great toe. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Youโ€™re awesome!

Abe? Pretty great in many respects! A good time for a listen to โ€œAbraham, Martin, and John.โ€ Dion performed the song, then Marvin Gayeโ€™s a bit later. Ignore the lyric that says, โ€œBut it seems the good die young.โ€ The intent was for emotional impact.

You have a lot of miles left on your tires. ๐Ÿคญ

My paddleboard surfing happens when a pontoon boat putters past and creates a small wake. If thereโ€™s a speedboat, I drop to my knees. ๐Ÿ˜

Emotional impactโ€ฆ artistic license. I get it! Sometimes we gotta pump it up a notch.

Good news about the mikes cuz Iโ€™m just finding my strut. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™m adept at finding a mis-typed letter that greatly alters the message. I had noted you have a lot of miles left on your tires. Now I see โ€œmikesโ€ and Iโ€™m wondering โ€œmicrophonesโ€ or โ€œMike and the Mechanics.โ€ Now that Iโ€™m on the same page I agree wholeheartedly!

Now if I just could find the story about women wearing witchesโ€™ hats while paddle boarding. NYT? ๐Ÿ˜‰ A no wake zone would help that cause as well.

Thatโ€™s fantastic because I am adept at mis-typing letters! A match made in heaven!

Now off to read that story!
