Good point! I get messages from him (or an algorithm). If I chose to follow him, I’d get many/most of his remarks (X’s?). That a recent news piece noted there have been 600 injuries and deaths (so far) in just the SpaceX program, that were not properly reported, speaks volumes to my heart and soul. That he also has banned the use of brightly colored warning signage (a common part of the manufacturing industries) because he doesn’t like bright colors tells much about his concerns for other humans.
Holy piscatorial pulchritude!! As a young whippersnapper I enjoyed finding then deploying that type of wording. Real words with uncommon sounding components. There’s a chance I still do so today. 🙃
I’m not certain which drawing by Mr. Ortiz served as your inspiration. I feel somewhat more certain that your drawing is one of your recent “life’s work” pieces! Not one jotted down in a jiffy. From this fabulous fish to the carefully executed dogwood branch shadows! The product of a recent viral fever dream?
Whatever happened, Gail, this is certainly a keeper! I can’t help wondering if you’re advancing your paintist/drawist skills to be able to illustrate your next book with skills to match your writing?🤔
Who doesn’t love lively, literary lexicography with a little alliteration tossed in?
Nia notes that we are challenged by patience for detailed visual work. She is correct! Please note sloppy side fin. 😂 Yesterday’s little raincoat girl’s fingers were… not quite right. 🤷♀️
That said… yes! We’re getting our steps in, literally and figuratively.
Hmmm… while Henny was off after a pheasant and the handler (not me) was in hot pursuit, I kept to the path and was captivated by the berry stem’s color. Thinking they might be valuable art material, I plucked and placed in pocket with a variety of other materials. Same fields where I once took an “elephant ear” leaf. Remember the chalk elephant image?
I’m now filling glass jars with bits and bobs.
Hmmm…I am trying really hard to stay open and receptive for Book 5. I have a guide — a story I published long ago on Medium. I feel quite challenged at this point to see the path to realize the grand vision in my mind. Lots of art/tech/writing to learn for execution.
To keep myself from feeling overwhelmed (and wanting to quit) baby steps of exploration are the order of the day. In fact, I think I might have to make a lesser book 5 as a step to what might become book 6 or 7.
Sounds a bit daunting and yet… I find it quite exciting.
Thank you Jack! I used a model from the internet! She’s a beauty. Everyday I am grateful for the growth, learning, connection, and joy the World Wide Web delivers!
While the average bloke would feel daunted by the very idea of the next book - any book- you nonchalantly mention “lots of art, tech, and writing” as needed for the next book. Your journey from Medium to today quickly comes to mind. The “woman dipping her toe in the river” seems applicable.
May your days offer up lots of Heraclitus moments.
A note from LoveLetterist:
I ran into a post on LinkedIn this morning that asked if Aldous Huxley and George Orwell's predictions are coming true.
The question I have is...
Who is responsible for creating our future?
Elon Musk?
If that’s true… then I simply MUST have a conversation with him so that I can get my two cents in!
Do you have his scheduler’s number?

Authoritarianism seems to be a theme in my morning.
I’ll keep kindling hope, concocting roadblocks, and creating thought nudges. It is my pleasure!
I recently read in “finite/infinite games” that the author believes that evil is usurping the agency of another.
Jerry B. Harvey says that it is better to provide inspiration for what others might do over having aspirations for what they should do.
I have met the enemy and it is us.
This is a brilliant painting! :) I love the colors and the idea to bring in the leaves and dogwood branches. So cool. Thank you Gail.
I will ponder your question.
What I like most about it is I was able to pull inspiration from a variety of artists — including Mother Nature! 😁
Thank you for your appreciation… and pondering. 💜
Love it! Your creativity is contagious.

Rainbow fish! How pretty! 💚

I am trying very hard to stay a step ahead of average. 🏃🏽♀️
