“Is it okay do you think…” Calliope admired Artist’s furry blend, “… to mix chalk pastels… with charcoals?” “Okay?” Thalia’s features broke into puzzled confusion. “Okaaaaay? There are rules? No waaaaaaay!” Urania glanced at the shelf where several barely-cracked art guides rested. “Not knowing — makes room for creative doing.”
I have never read that Michelangelo used anyone's guide for painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel? History suggests that he did an alright job! To what degree were his results "needed" for worship? In a similar vein, a friend who lives in Kyiv, Ukraine, often posts images of Kyiv's beautiful architecture. Many underground subway stations at a glance seem to have been inspired by Michelangelo as well! And serve double duty as air raid shelters now.
Some view "art" with disdain - paintings, sculpture, poetry, dance. To others it is their life blood! I'm thinking of a couple right now.
I once watched a male ballet dancer performing solo in an old abandoned church. It appeared in an article questioning whether ballet was art or sport. "Both" was my reaction. For worshipers in the Sistine Chapel I can guess the work Michelangelo produced indeed does add to the experience of being in a heavenly place. And in the Kyiv subway stations, the artists' forms and colors are beautiful any day of the week, but also soothing to those who take shelter in them.
Today I don't imagine artist/drawist/typist fell over once!
“It’s amazing what ordinary people can do if they set out without preconceived notions.”

You made a pretty cat! I’m with Thal and Nia — enjoy the result!

I'm late to the party, but I love the cat!
