“Daddy— She has rainbow hair!” Thalia’s voice carried the wonder of the child who’d said as much yesterday while Typist signed in at the cancer clinic’s kiosk.
“Tired of swimming against the current, my friend? Turn your feet downstream and float.” As one who believed swimming upstream was the only way, I’m overjoyed to learn it isn’t!! Thanks for turning me toward a better way. And reminding me from time to time.
Wonderful post today. Rainbow hair indeed! What if when your hair grows back out it was?! CURE!
Hmmm… Real life rainbow hair 🤔. I’m a little fussy about coordinating my outfits and I’m not sure how I’d work with multicolored hair. I could become “the woman in black or cream”. 🤷♀️
Yesterday, right after the rainbow hair exclamation, a receptionist stopped to read the bracelet you sent me when she slipped on my clinic ID bracelet.
“If only for a moment, our bald cancer patient was fascinating and beautiful to someone whose perspective was as fresh as the morning dew.”
Fascinating! Beautiful! Bold! Fresh! Inspiring!
Each day I awaken, I experience a profound sense of gratitude. Every post I read from Typist instills in me the essence of remembering the childhood, childlike wonder that surrounded me… What’s interesting, is that the wonder never changed, I did… The wonder is still there, waiting, as evidenced by the perspective of the child who was clearly experiencing “rainbow hair.” 😊🌈 💇🏻♀️
I am more attuned to the present moment — living less in the past or future. I know I’m still missing things because my brain can only process so much, but I have space for the little (and big) wonders.
For many of us, filling our lives with “doing” has robbed us of the time to “be.” Some doings are unavoidable and worthwhile. Work.🤔 Grocery shopping & cooking dinner? Yep, but how often do we try to make it a shared activity? Hey, Beth! Would you give this red lettuce a bath while I prep cukes and tomatoes? Then chat about whatever while doing so. Until summer heat and mosquitoes become unbearable, taking our plates out to the patio table affords connections with the critters. Limpkins. Canada geese (most now stay year around). A huge variety of song birds. Oh, how could I forget the voices of several varieties of frogs! The full symphony of frogs and jillions of buzzing insects is overwhelming! I’d feel imprisoned without that. These are strategies to make a break from the day’s doings and enjoy evening’s being.
And, yes Bobby, I also wonder how we can too often keep a lid on the wonder? Miss what we’re missing? 🤷🏽
“Why can’t I open this door, asked the exasperated guy? I keep pulling with all my might.” “Oh my!“ replied the kind lady. “Just push on the door and walk thru.”
A variation on the theme. When I catch myself pulling, not always quickly, I advise myself, “Why not stop pulling? Ease into the day!” I break fewer door handles now. 🙃

Like the old Tommy Lee Jones movie, “Men in Black?”
One of my all time favorite films!
Glorious scarf! Oh, to see through the eyes of childlike wonder. Rainbow hair is terrific. For the record Cal, Typist is beautiful and fascinating.
Wouldn’t it be incredible for clear scans next week? I am crossing fingers and toes that you knocked C out in round 1. That would be EPIC.
Sending you a day full of unicorns, rainbows, and childlike wonder. 🦄 🌈 👶
Yesterday, right after the rainbow hair exclamation, a receptionist stopped to read the bracelet you sent me when she slipped on my clinic ID bracelet.
She had a big smile and asked where I got it.
“A gift from a dear friend,” I replied.
“What a great message!”
I feel like the Grinch right now… I can feel my hearts 💜💚❤️ growing! 😊
🙏🏼🕊🙏🏼🌈 🦄 🌈
Button: “I don’t have gray hair, I have wisdom highlights.” 😁
Or rainbow highlights? In some cases?
My scalp stubble thinks I’m an owl!
Whooo said so? 😬
😂

What are we missing? I wonder? What if? 🤔

I’ll need to type this into my browser. I thought it was a live link, but not as it landed in my phone. Ah, technology!

Ahhh! The old push instead of pull snafu. That’s happened to me a time or two!
