I’ve become a bit squeamish about making comments on recent artwork, LoveLetterist. I’m tickled to see Thalia developing her touch with the brush. Even when it’s “for the birds.” 🤭

I want to shout, “Blessed are the peacemakers” when I hear your account of Cal’s kindness and gentleness with her teammates! I’m curious about what made an owl the choice for today’s painting? (It does NOT look like a possummmm!)

I’m reminded of Flaco, the Eurasian Eagle-Owl that escaped his cramped enclosure at a zoo in NYC and successfully adapted to life as a free bird. A fierce face and gorgeous feathers. Photographers more than once caught him with a rat in his talons. The hero of Central Park and beyond.

Robert Genn’s remark prompted me to read further. Rabbit hole alert! Joke. In the linked resource he suggests in many ways that the artist needs fewer strokes, not more. The suggestion to “scrape off and start over” captures his approach.

“There are no rehearsals for life.” Painting maybe??

I keep snapshots of images as inspiration. I often scroll and pick one before beginning. The owl seemed a Goldilocks- fit for my skill and mood. 🤷‍♀️

How did Flaco get free?

Reading the note from Genn… perhaps played a tiny role in today’s 3mm conversation. Despite Tal’s resistance, there are secrets to be learned from those who came before. 🤭
