“Dehhhh-k the hawls with —” Thalia fluffs a flurry of fabricated flakes. “clip-clops of holly!” Nią ponders the carpet’s isle-of-misfit-decor. “Well… It might not be Saks Fifth Avenue window dressing…” Calliope works to balance a faux fur Santa hat on a picture frame, “but it’s ours… Every piece infused with a memory.”
Team Christmas Cheer and happy to know I do have a choice in the matter. :) Thank you Gail. I'm loving my Christmas music filling my home with candles a blaze. :)
Choosing cheer over gloom seems the logical choice. Sometimes early life imprints us with the gloom part. 🙋🏽♂️ Into adult life I purposely did my shopping on Christmas Eve. 2 or 3 hours before the Malls closed. An unpleasant and combative atmosphere prevailed. Not even qualifying for the low branches! Yet that was my choice.
These days I don’t shop for anything at malls. Online perusing and choosing. My front porch seems far less hostile than the malls of old.
I appreciate your soft reminder that we do have a choice!
Full mall parking lots! Two methodologies stood out to me: serpentine winding up one section and down the next, or simply parking in a section and blocking cars from either direction. Not because they saw a car’s back up lights. Just to camp out in hopes... Often provoking colorful language to exit my mouth. 🤬
A note from LoveLetterist:
What team are you on?
Team Christmas Cheer or Team Bahumbug
I've played on both sides of the tree.
This year I'm suiting up on a branch of cheer.
The beauty of having ringed the perimeter is...
that I can relate to wherever you stand.

Thanks for sharing Julie!
Candles and Christmas lights are a blessing during this dark/chilly time of year in the Northern Hemisphere. 🎄🕯
They sure are! :)

Hmmmm... My early life memories of the holidays are a mixed bag.
Fun to hear about your escapades in online shopping! I can remember circling full mall parking lots in years gone by. That wasn't much fun. 😝
The internet has delivered many treats... including the ability to "shop" in our PJs.

I cannot recall the last time I shopped at a mall.
