We are enjoying the last of 2023 with creating, baking, and hiking! :) Thank you Gail. I look forward to 2024...thinking of some words...community, laugher, action.
I believe the phrase will serve as a reminder — when I find myself stuck or challenged to keep going. When we remember the why, we can push through the how?
For a moment I feared Thalia and I suffered from the same knee glitch. When I crouch and click, my knee clicks too. 🤔 The image Tal snapped of the rime portends our having rime from overnight temperatures below freezing. The bird pond behind our home keeps the air humid most of the time.
I almost asked if the gathering was catered. A preposterous ask, as you were in charge in most of it! Empty platters and full bellies I would guess. The art of making and preserving community in your home.
The inclusion of George Carlin’s remark took me back to his early days when he had just taken up the comedy of Lenny Bruce. “The Seven Dirty Words” illustrate the early Carlin. Hearing his appreciation of a flower or blade of grass making home in a crack in a sidewalk seems so out of character! Some assuming was at work I think. 😔
I hope Henrietta was a specimen of restraint... Took up a spot by the fireplace?
Thanks for a new-to-me word! I learned “rime” can be used as a noun or a verb.
Regarding your remarks about Carlin… I agree that his quote surprised me, too. We contain multitudes!
In that vein, there was conversation yesterday about a university chancellor in Wisconsin who was recently relieved of his duties for some… unbecoming behavior. Several of our guests and their parents had met the man personally… and he’d left a favorable impression on them. 🤷♀️ Our human actions and perceptions sure offer a lot to write about!
Henrietta… eventually had to be contained in a bedroom where she — barked. 😂
Pets and gatherings, oh my! When my son, wife, and daughter stopped by on their way home from time with his wife’s family, they also had their large dog, Harley. On sight of Harley and Izzie was over the top! To the bedroom. Barking? Incessant.
Our feral cat, Buster, is not one to be petted to excess. (More than two passes.) His response to petting is typically to bite the petter. A winning habit. Off to Beth’s office!
I hope your New Year gets off to a flourish! Ball drop? 😊
A note from LoveLetterist:
We're hosting a family gathering today.
Our refrigerator holds oven-ready pans of lasagne and stuffed shells -- and chilled tiramisu.
Most of the crumbs, cobwebs, and hard water marks have been lifted.
Offering a warm and welcoming space to gather
takes thought and effort
that are rewarded ten-fold.
Getting together with family should provide renewals of wonderful memories! 💚
And writing prompts! 😁
And writing prompts!
We played a couple of fun games. One included scooping bows into a bowl with a spatula... while blindfolded! 😂
I failed to shine at that one.
Sounds lovely and yummy! :) Have a wonderful time. xox
Thank you Julie!
I hope you and your family are enjoying the season.
I look forward to moving into 2024 and sharing our stories and efforts!

I’ve chosen a phase for 2024:
Take the action because you love it.
I believe the phrase will serve as a reminder — when I find myself stuck or challenged to keep going. When we remember the why, we can push through the how?
I love this idea Gail! I'm going to think on this today. A phrase maybe the way to go for me as well. Thank you for sharing. :)
My pleasure!
Here’s to the heroism of grass, flowers, AND The Girls! 🙌🏼🐛🦋🙌🏼
Thank you Bobby!
Right back at you. You continue to bloom as well. 🌻🪷🌄

Happy New Year Gary!
I find homophones hard to resist! 😁

I had a cat like that! Never knew when she was going to decide to bite. She became more tolerant, seeking attention even, as she matured.
Ball drop? 😂
Unlikely.
Know thyself!
