“Huhhhhh! I remember the summer day when we almost ran over the landscaper who walked into truck’s path!” said Thalia. “The cicadas were buzzing… just as this year’s crop of males are bellowing mating calls right now.”
“We were writing Meandering Muses: Inspirations from A to Z at the time…” Calliope was interrupted by a robin landing within mere feet of her chair. “Hello little friend…And rather than perseverate on the upsetting memory… we helped Typist dispel the shadow by writing the story down.”
Thalia wiggled her eyebrows. “Adding a touch of humor via a riddle helped us to reframe and remove the sting of the experience.”
Words from Typist:
To have courage for whatever comes in life — everything lies in that.
~Teresa of Avila
It took courage for me to put truck in reverse that blue-sky morning — after scowling at the man — and hearing him call me a plucking ditch. I cannot say we enjoyed a bonding moment, but I did have an opportunity to explain that my scowl was a natural reaction by saying, “I just didn’t want to run you over.”
