“We are noooooot giving up the gas stovvvvvvv!” Thalia turned up the flame. “No chef worth her salt — cooks with electric!”
“Humans live love to meddle.” Nia cracked an egg.
“Here’s a thing…” Calliope cut herself a piece of leftover apple pie. “One hand is often slapping another? Wasn’t it interesting to learn from Typist’s friend who’s a new grandma… Nowadays… it’s considered a safety hazard for children to wear winter coats while riding in carseats? What do you think environmentalists make of extra emissions from car-warm-up-time?”
Nią shrugged. “That’s why we content ourselves with our own algebra.”
How do I have productive days with minimum drama? Simple; I mind my own business.

I am with Thalia on this, gas for cooking. I grew up with a gas stove but when my house found Todd and I it had an electric cooktop. I may have actually despised that cooktop. Happy to say I now have a gas stove.
As a vertically challenged human I generally take my coat off to drive. I feel unsafe (and uncomfortable) driving in it. It gets in the way, blocks my vision, and swallows me up. Maybe the getting in the way is a factor for infants in car seats?
Now I want pie for breakfast.
George Carlin: “Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog’s face, he gets mad at you, but when you take him for a car ride, he sticks his head out the window?” 😁
I noticed the AAP article said it wasn’t a good idea for adults to wear big puffy coats in cars either, so Billie is ahead of the curve. (Probably not a good idea for dogs to wear big puffy coats in cars either — or really anywhere for that matter!)
The “gas isn’t good for you!” thing I spotted weeks ago, but the group that published it (no idea now, of course) was making the point that gas OVENS were a problem — they cycle often and leak un- or partially-burned gas, as opposed to the stovetop burners. Our newish (15 months?) stove is gas burners (love!) but electric oven (also love — my first convection oven) and it’s vented, so that article went into the “oh, okay, whatever” mental pile. Than someone in the government said Hey, should we look into this? and there’s been hell to pay since. <sigh>
