Today while Chris Palmore shared his Little Book of Grief, Grace, and Gratitude with near 30 guests... 8 deer grazed in our host’s backyard. A variety of feathered munched seeds from a platform feeder.
Dang! We had five deer a couple weeks ago... for maybe five minutes (they had some place to go, I guess?).
Today we had two crows, which is unusual for our neighborhood... and within half a minute, the Neighborhood Watch (as Deb & I call them) had sprung into action. Four blue jays, sticking close to the intruders (but not too close — these crows were twice as big) and making a ruckus the whole time, screaming and shrieking. The crows decided they had better places to be. Half an hour later the jays were back, one of them munching on suet and two others feeding off crumbs on the ground (to be fair, not many jays master the suet feeders we have). They were making quiet tweets and hoots and came across as a bunch who had just chased the villains out of the neighborhood and were stopping at the pub for a glass or two to celebrate. 😊🎖️
