Thalia tapped the screen of Typist’s smartphone. “It’s frozen AGAIN!” The Muse of Wit pulled an imaginary microphone from one of her many pockets and sang, “Let it goooooo 🎶 Let it gooooo!”
“Overdone.” Nia tossed a glance at Calliope. “Please make her stop.”
“You know as well as I do that we can’t make her do anything. But together… we can appeal to… and coax forth… her best traits.” Calliope held up the pencil-annotated-lined-through play-sheet showing their progress for Cancer-ing with Agency. Nia loved to see items crossed off lists. “Singing the theme song from Frozen is harmless. Let her go... oops, sorry.” The Muse of Harmony pulled on her earlobe. “What if instead of Cancer-ing with Agency… our working title becomes… This is Only a Test.”
Words from Typist:
‘Tis true.
My phone has been on the fritz since Wednesday.
Frustrating.
Instead of marinating in thoughts of manure, I invented a story.
Surely this disruption is happening to test my un-flappability!
A sick phone is not happening TO me.
A sick phone is happening FOR me!
Stopped into Horizon… I mean Verizon… on Black Friday for help, but after 5 minutes without a glance from an employee, decided to retreat.
On the drive home, I had a flash of insight.
Why not hop on the laptop to see if I can get some Apple-support?
Brilliant!
Within a minute I was online chatting with virtual Meg — who was a delight — but she could not remotely fix my phone. She DID connect me with an Apple service center where I have an appoint for service this afternoon.
The story continues… Who am I supposed to meet there? Will the phone get fixed? Will I continue to be challenged? These are indeed the days of my life!
Why not be the hero?
…
Dear Reader,
What is happening FOR you today?
What role are you playing?
Can you be the hero?
3mm is a supportive community of hero builders.
We welcome your overcoming-adversity #haikuery and/or #sixwordsentence in our comment threads.
LOL hope they can fix your iPhone.
Love the reframe. I don't feel the victim, the hero, or the villian often (drama triangle). I also don't feel the capital H Hero often either. I'm often cruising playing my character without respect to the journey of me as the hero or adventurer or one who is overcoming. I think the world would be a lovelier place if we had more heroes overcoming.
