“I’d baaaaay-ree my head —” Thalia checks the freezer for ice cream, “in a milkshake!”
Nią reads an ostrich fact article. “Contrary to popular belief —ostriches don’t bury their heads in the sand. They DO — lie down with their heads against the ground when they feel threatened.”
“Amazing things happen…” Cal whips some cream and grins at her friends, “… when we keep our head up.”
From my point of view, which is that of a storyteller, I see your life as already artful, waiting, just waiting and ready for you to make it art.
~Toni Morrison
Act as if someone just said there’s no reason to be afraid.

What if the person we need to meet... is ourself?
So as not to become stuck in your ways you’ve created an ostrich in full display. A female, of course...
From Nia’s article I’ve learned that running away from a 9 foot tall, 320# bird that can run 40-45 mph is not encouraged! And that’s capable of disemboweling its prey! At my current walking speed, 2 mph, homey don’t do foot races with that kind of character. 😵💫
The image of whipped cream - kudos, Cal - served as a flashback to yesterday’s Thanksgiving meal. I learned that Libby’s recipe for chai pumpkin pie won the taste test hands down, leading to no small amount of whipped cream consumption! Out of two 9 1/2” pies, which were intended to serve four adults, less than 1/5th of one pie came home with us. 😵💫 Perhaps Poltergeists plundered the pies? 🤭
As luck would have it (inspired by ostriches laying their heads flat on the ground), Cal’s saying “keep our head up” sent me down a rabbit hole of music. First “Hold your head up” resonated with Cal’s words. They in turn uprooted a 33 year old song performed in South America by Peter Gabriel and Sinead O’Connor, accompanied on guitar by Sting! The song? “Don’t give up!” Sinead’s recent death seemed poignantly framed by that performance. Sad that Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s statement never reached and registered with Sinead. (I realize that chronology makes that impossible; still, time travel could have made it so.)
Holiday adventures, one and all. Hoping everyone else’s were as well.
