Pursuit of Happiness
Thalia extricated herself from the brambles and dropped a handful of berries into the bowl. Her hands were scratched, blood beaded on her left cheek, and there was a thorn in her thumb. She grinned. “Whew! I’m free.”
Glasses askew, Urania dropped her contribution onto the pile and sighed. “I was hoping for enough to make a pie.”
Calliope gestured to another tangle of vines. Ripe berries dangled within easy reach. She trusted they’d have more than enough.
Words from Typist:
I continue to work on releasing myself from expectations of what I think should happen next.
This morning I read that it is our inner view that declares whether we see the world as friendly or hostile. When one’s reality lives up to their expectations they feel happy, and when it doesn’t they feel sad or angry.
What happens when we let go of expectation, feel grateful for the berries in our bowls, and keep our senses open for more?
Happy Independence Day!
