Thalia rubs sleep from her eyes. “Lah-s-tah night was hearrrt-eee — start-eeeeeeeee!”
“Informative.” Nia accounts and collates her mental notes.
“My favorite part was… the poem Andy shared before he sang…” Cal searches for an alternate word before deciding to just go for it, “Damn… It Feels Good To Be Me.”
To shine your brightest light is to be who you truly are.
~Roy T. Bennett
Don’t you ever let a soul in the world tell you that you can’t be exactly who you are.
~Lady Gaga
Notes from LoveLetterist:
In POISE: Facing Cancer with Grace and Resilience there's a chapter about waking up to my first...
#cancergift = recognizing that life is fragile and precious powered my awareness and deepened my feelings.
Last night my husband once again played the role of good sport, navigating downtown roads and parking so that I could observe and learn.
Andy Grammar was nothing short of himself.
I found him, his band, his lyrics, his creative director, and his honesty/authenticity to be incredibly inspiring.
I believe the highlights of a concert, a movie, our days... are clues to our best lives.
Same goes for the things we don't enjoy.
It's all material... to release us from our blocks of marble.
Are you paying attention?
Another dandy post, LoveLetterist! I recall you mentioning, in the early days of your C treatment, that the doctor said “Cure” was the goal of your treatment. Reading this page from Poise and your noting “Cure” had been realized, I wondered this. Does Dr. S “sense” what a patient is made of? Not only physically but more so emotionally, spiritually. I can’t see him saying that to every patient.
Do you often keep the Muses up past their usual bedtime? While Tal seems drowsy, Nia has that clipped reply. Almost like she wasn’t at the concert! At least Cal “brought some of the concert home with her.” Not unlike me, I wonder if Nia is still working on connection... with her inner self?
Roy Bennett encourages us to take off our masks and pretense, and simply be who we truly are. Lady Gaga’s infectious spirit has been a great part of her audience appeal. Her performing with Tony Bennett, near the end of his life with dementia setting in, was moving. Their respective remarks reflected their mutual admiration. Their singing scintillated.
Thanks for another stroll down memory lane! 😊
