A televised panel discussion pulled at Thalia’s attention. Pundits rehearsed one trouble after another, then cycled back to the beginning and started over.
“Turn that off.” Urania gathered notes, quotes, and coats for today’s projects.
“What’s with the coats… and the umbrella?” Calliope asked.
“We can’t control the weather, but we can choose to brave it.” Nia clipped on Henny’s leash. “A walk will do us good.”
A Question from James Clear’s 3-2-1 Newsletter:
Without altering the facts of a situation I am facing and without ignoring the reality of what must be done, what is the most useful and empowering story I can tell myself about what is happening and what I need to do next?
George Carlin: “Why do doctors leave the room while you change??? They’re going to see you naked anyway.” 😁
“We can’t control the weather, but we can choose to brave it.” Or make soup. Soup is good, too. 😊
“Headlines” immediately prompted my brain (that thing I carry around in my skull) to conjure up “Furrowed brow.” Reflexive furrowing not required...
Then of course you offered up a learning experience for me: James Clear. I don’t get out much you know. 😬 You’d be correct to guess I’m awaiting Thursday’s 3:2:1 email.
As I read the question he posed I thought of folks who act on inspiration (spirit within) or impulse or in response to someone stepping on their bare foot. I know some from that school of thought, but not classifying you as such.
If we’re wired more toward impulsive behavior, Mr. Clear’s approach could seem mechanistic, tedious. To me he seems more to be saying, “Roll up your sleeves, work on a sound plan, and get started.” He does presume said person has sufficient analytical and deductive brain power to proceed that way. I sense that approach doesn’t lend itself to the students now using AI bots to write their reports and term papers...
Tal must have been watching BBC. “They tell you what they’re going to tell you; they tell you; then they tell you what they told you,” said a friend, Paul Peacock. Thank goodness Urania read and understood James Clear! 😁
Enjoy your walk in the rain!
