“Feeeee-lz like we’re on vaaaa-caaa-shun!” Thalia delights in dappled sunlight. Cal’s head swivels in tandem with a chippy scurrying across stones. “I feel… hoppy…. like one of the young bunnies we saw on our morning stroll.” “All this elation —” Nia noodles, “— from sitting — in a fresh perspective.”
Red squirrels were once abundant in England. Then someone thought our grey squirrels would be a nice companion. The reds are in steep decline there. Plentiful in your area?
We too have the bloodsuckers. 🤷♀️ perhaps because it has been so dry here, their numbers are low? I’m only bothered when Hen and I walk the foliage thick path around the yard.
Or consider Florida. We’re under a statewide malaria alert as 3 cases have already occurred. The biters are females and blood helps in egg production. The word “anopheles” means “freedom, independence.” Just in time for Independence Day! 🙃
I read that drinking lemongrass tea can act as a repellant. Or 100mg B-1. I use a deet-free product called Repel. 30% is oil from lemon-eucalyptus leaves. Lasts up to 6 hours. Dispensed from a squeeze-top small plastic bottle.
Vacation sometimes is a state of mind. One we can choose. I see a segue with the expression: “You can start your day over at any time.” The operative part being “you.” Not my neighbor. Not an Amazon delivery truck stopping in front of my house, either.
Now for some dappled sunlight and maybe a light breeze?
The simple pleasures such as seeing bunnies can make anyone smile. The simple pleasures can change a bad mood to a good one. We all need to believe in the simple pleasures in life.
Thank you Rahul! I just read your letter about gurus. I have been blessed to have connected with several who have guided me to find the “happiest” and most fulfilled version of Gail. The interesting thing is… staying in that space takes consistent evolution.
I have guides who have surely helped me to discover and shine my own light!
Room to spread out the books et al, with good shade. Marvelous!
Now in our backyard, this time of year, the gnats and occasional fly would be after us inside ten minutes. Hence the screened porch. 😁
P.S. chipmunks in abundance. One almost ran across my foot. I bet is I sat still enough, long enough I could start making friends. 🐿️

We have both… although greys are more common. I hear reds thrive in pine trees of which we have few.

Interesting! “Blood helps in egg production.” So often there is a story beneath the surface!

Great quote on happiness.
Life is a meal and happiness is a main ingredient.
