Typist hits pause on her playlist so she can better hear the racket in her head. Aiming to hit a June 1 target for BOOK 4’s completed rough draft takes concentration and… Calliope.
“I gotta peeeeeee!” Thalia whines.
“Hold it.” Nia grips the wheel. “Where’s the map. Do we turn right or left here?”
Tal holds up a sauce-stained wad of paper. “This? I thought it was a fancy napkin.”
Frustration holding her in its claws, Nia growls. “Now what?!”
“Creativity!” Thalia scans the horizon. “We dooooo NOT need a map to a place nobody’s been before.”
Cal holds namaste hands in front of her heart. “Where would I be without the two of you… Clambering us to new heights?” A sense of peace permeates the space. “We’ve got this… only six vignettes left to write.”
It takes both emotion and logic to reach your maximum potential, to really give everything you have, to go beyond your limits.

That’s a playlist!
Somehow I heard “We don’t need no stinking badges (maps)” in Tal’s comment. From Blazing Saddles back to The Monkees and further back to Treasure of the Sierra Madres. As a liberating remark in those three films, I hear the same liberation in Tal’s remark.
Does “rolling up your sleeves” still apply when wearing a sleeveless blouse? Or tank top? Whatever figure of speech applies, I hear a “book birth” in the offing.
Write on!!
