“Goals and contingencies, as I’ve said, are important. But they exist in the future and the past, beyond the pale of the sensory realm. Practice, the path of mastery, exists only in the present.”

~George Leonard

This is one of the most powerful quotes I’ve ever been privileged to read. It was not a quote I was familiar with, although I am familiar with many that have similar messages, but none so eloquently expressed as this one.

It is no longer unfamiliar to me because Typist was moved to share it here, now, today, in this moment, with all of us, in THIS love letter...

The real question for each of us to consider is, what will we do with this new piece of information, if it is indeed new for us, you?

And, if it’s old information, what will you do with this old information? What will you do differently today than you did yesterday, because you had the good fortune of being a subscriber to this love letter, and being exposed to this quote, these words?

If one takes the time to examine the language used, we can see that even this expression was shared with intention.

Can we be goal focused, future focused, and still “BE” intentional?

The path of mastery exists only in the present?

I can almost hear the question being asked of the old wise man sitting stoically in his garden, tell us, how did you become a master?

“Through many years of devotion and practice.”

How did you learn to apply all the lessons and the wisdom you accumulated along the way?

“By learning to be present...”

What is the greatest challenge you see in our current society?

“People are more distracted than they’ve ever been in the history of humanity. Most have the attention span of a gnat. They are technologically overwhelmed, they have too much information, and many are suffering from decision fatigue.”

Is there a solution?

“Yes, but it’s not easy so most will ignore it...”

Well, what’s the potential solution?

“Learn to love the sound of your feet walking away from what no longer serves you.”

Is anyone listening?

“One did!”

“I am learning to love the sound of my feet walking away from things not meant for me.”

~A.G.

What will you learn to walk away from that’s not meant for you? Hmmm? 🤔

A reply, from a loving, love letter, lover... 😉

“Little” is relative... But the woman standing at the window “be fierce.” Or is that determination?

In the background the Bluetooth speaker is wafting out Van Morrison. “She’s as sweet as Tupelo Honey...” Clearly not a reference to window gazer. 🤷🏽

The AA Big Book says this about fear: “It was an evil and corroding thread; the fabric of our existence was shot through with it.” So it seems painter, writer, author, typist has decided to focus on trust. Faith in Spirit or Universe. She must have read Einstein’s remark that we have to decide if the Universe is “friendly” or “unfriendly.”

Much to reflect on. Have a great, courageous day!
