A note from Loveletterist:

Yesterday was delicious.

My husband and I delivered some furniture to the kid's new apartment at university. After, we dined al fresco at a lovely little tapas restaurant. The patio was encased in a greenhouse structure that was surrounded by flourishing flower and vegetable plants. One could feel the energy and love being poured into -- and created by -- the restaurant.

It was a delicious day... topped off with tres leches cake.

Yum!

The more such opportunities, dining Al fresco

Thalia! Gluttony, one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Please don’t impair your twirling and acrobatic skills! (I confess. I might have succumbed to something so deliciosa) 😉

I found this while searching UW-Steven’s Point: “... the future you imagine is within reach when you Discover Your Purpose.” Inspiring! It’s not all that improbable to strive to be the areas best baker of tres leches!

Of course I had to search Father Fats and what a delightful sounding eating experience! The range of offerings, along with a playful approach to their menu offerings, sounded tantalizing. 😋 A rightful reward for kid assistance. Nicely done!

Now, what’s for dessert?

I kept a few of the chocolate chip cookies I made for the kid at home. 😜

grrr. Clumsy paws. To dine al fresco, the more opportunities to connect with Nature. Cool air, scents of late Autumn, can help us connect with Mother Earth!

I found so much joy in being in Stevens Point. I also attended college there, as did my husband. When the kid chose UWSP as his school, I envisioned outings just like the one that I experienced yesterday. It was lovely!

Thanks for this excellent tip! Do overs on posts? Magic!

For some reason my brain kept saying, “Mill town, mill town.” Was that a part of Steven’s Point’s history? I’m pretending I forgot how to execute simple searches...

I do believe Point has/had a paper mill, but I’d have to search to verify. 🤷‍♀️

It has been over 30 years since I walked the downtown’s streets. It felt familiar and yet was different from the memories in my brain.

We walked past an intriguing print shop that either prints on paper or fabric… I couldn’t tell from the window. And there was a fascinating mural that included animal images in plants. For example, there were fox faces in foxglove flowers, chickens integrated into chicken-of-the-woods mushrooms.

P.S. There is a knack for finding the rabbit holes we want to fall into?

Yes there is that delightful knack! I actually was thinking clothing or fabric mills. A “Stevens Mills” did exist but was a large, southern operation on the Chattahoochee River. A fascinating read, but not ever in Wisconsin.

I did discover that UW Stevens Point has a large and varied curriculum on textiles, an outgrowth of their earlier Home Economics program. Widely respected. Another dandy rabbit hole.
