Teeny-tiny bits of unused tissue littered Cal’s space. She watched falling flakes through the window as she shredded. “I just don’t understand why… Why are ruining our last infusion day? Calling attention to ourselves… when we could calmly sit in front of the fireplace… draw nice quiet sketches for our friends… blend into our surroundings.”
Urania fretted over all the call-to-collaborate invitation details that could have been better executed. “We should have made a note — that when answering the questions — we’d love full sentence replies — AND we might have mentioned that responders should feel free to write on the front and BACK sides of the itty-bitty little cards we made.”
Today Thalia pulled out the gruff voice reserved for an unresponsive Henny. “STOP! Today is about celebration, collaboration, and con-eeeeeeehk-shun! When the self-addressed envelopes start appearing in our mailbox, you’ll both be glad we took the tiny leap.”
Where there is love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong.
~ Ella Fitzgerald
As I was reading your description, and the inner chatter amongst your friends in regards to this “call to collaborate,” I can see in my minds eye, the image of two brothers and their vision, for what would become something we simply take for granted, and rarely think about, manned flight.
When you go back and look at that first image from Kitty Hawk, it’s hard to imagine that’s where it all began, and some would argue that it may have begun someplace else but for those of us here in the United States at least, there’s a pretty compelling story about how two bicycle mechanics, just simply decided to move forward in the face of massive adversity and tremendous competition, and without any of the funding that many of their competitors had as an advantage. But what they didn’t have (their competitors I mean) is they didn’t have the spirit, they didn’t have the heart, they didn’t have the drive, they didn’t have the passion, that these two bicycle mechanic brothers did.
I know a trio with a collaborator who appear to be some of the most passionate Muses I’ve ever heard about. I never realized there was so much written about Muses until I started following yours and now every time I turn around, I run into something about the muse or muses in general...
Here’s to muses and everyday superheroes following their passion, even when that passion is a mere wispy inkling of an idea, a thin thread of possibility, a minuscule menagerie of complexity and concern that it might all be for not, and still finding the tenacity to press on... #Bravo #Kudos
Sign: “I was drinking a beer and the bartender yelled ‘ANYBODY KNOW CPR?’ and I yelled back ‘I KNOW THE WHOLE ALPHABET!’ and we all laughed and laughed. Well, except this one guy.”😁
Ah, user response cards! Where you read the first one and yell “WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!” at the absent responder; by the third one you’re yelling “WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!” at the mirror as a pattern develops to the answers... and flaws become apparent to the questions...
You’ll make it work, Gail! 💚
